Osteopathic Practitioners will use the BC COVID-19 self- assessment tool daily, and stay home/cancel appointments if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Booking appointments

Appointments will have a 30 minute window between them. This time allows us to:

  • Clean all surfaces in our treatment room and reception area

  • Change our clothes / masks and wash our hands / forearms for at least 20 seconds

  • Open the door to allow more air exchange to the treatment room

  • Ensure the client can walk into their appointment when they arrive and decrease the chance of meeting others in common areas.

Covid 19 Safety Plan

After assessing our clinic, and following the guidelines of the Provincial Health Officer, WorkSafe BC, BC Center for Disease Control and our association, we have put the following measures into action to return to work safely and minimize the spread of Covid-19. We ask that you respect them so we can all do our part to help each other.

Pre-Screening of Clients and Staff

A client, like the Osteopathic Practitioner, must not:

  • Have been abroad in the last 14 days

  • Have any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, loss of smell or taste

  • Have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last month or be waiting for the results of a test

  • Have been in contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 for less that 14 days

If quarantine has been required, it must have been completed.

Prior to the client’s appointment, they will be sent a reminder and asked to complete the BC COVID-19 Symptom Self-Assessment set up through our online booking site. They are reminded to stay home if experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of sense of smell. If they were experiencing these symptoms and have not been tested for COVID-19, they are reminded to call the 8-1-1 hotline for further instruction.

Informed consent is required prior to the client coming in. This includes ensuring the client understands that while we have taken measures to minimize risk of viral transmission, the nature of osteopathic treatment means that physical distancing is not possible in the treatment room. Because of this fact, proper personal protection measures will be taken (as outlined below).

High Risk Patients.  As a reminder, some patients are at higher risk for more severe COVID-19 effects. This includes (but is not limited to): Age over 70 years and people who are: diabetic, immunosuppressed, undergoing treatment for cancer, suffering from cardiovascular disease and other conditions. It is for these reasons that we are taking the precautions we are, as well as asking clients to consider their health when booking an appointment.

Upon arrival at the clinic, clients are asked to either wash their hands with soap and water or use disinfectant prior to beginning their session. If they have a mask, they are asked to bring it with them and wear it when they arrive. If they do not have a mask, one will be provided for them.

Clients are reminded that at any time, they are free to cancel appointments due to Covid-19 symptoms or any other sudden onsets of illness.
